In the Frosty Moonlight
Tonight is the frosty monn, brightest and whitest moon of the year, and also, my favourite.
'I believe the world it spins for you
We will never be
I am the moon.... '
'And there's magic in the air
A lotus flower floating out of despair
And my winter sun
You are my broken one...'

I am the moon.... '

A lotus flower floating out of despair

Haunted
Imagine the worst kind of haunting... a persistent memory that won't leave - a person, a place, a feeling - a veritable ghost. Maybe at first a comfort, then a dull ache, a sharp pain, a fear, a fate.
Loss and grief and regret and guilt make good torture. Yes, lots of that.
'And a bird without its wings is a low and tragic thing...'
'purge the soul...'

Memories
A rediscovery of memories tonight. Memories that are echoes...in a pool of light. Memories that are heavy... weighted in gold. Holding on, letting go - either or - is hard. Easier to just lose them. Forget. Erase. Fast forward. Blank.
'I don't really know where the world is
but I miss you now...'
'I'm not ready for the weight of us...'
'Does anybody really know if it's the end or the beginning?... It's one door swinging open and one door swinging closed...'
'I would have loved you all my life...'
All these songs from my recent re-watching of The Vampire Diaries. Yes I'm a 'sucker' for para-romance with a high emotional (and for me, nostalgia) content.

October Melancholy
Some days are just tainted with melancholy in autumn aren't they, an undeniable flavour of nostalgia.

In Retrospect...
They say it takes an entire calendar year to get over someone. (Well then, I think I've made it.)
And to be really truly over someone does feel sad but then it becomes something else - a kind of exhilaration, freedom, with all kinds of newness glinting on the horizon.

More Moon Songs...
'I'm pushing an elephant up the hill...'
La Luna
It's harvest moon time and what a gorgeous moon is lighting up the sky tonight (and tomorrow night too and if we're lucky, all week...)
Here's to moon magic! ~

Stumble Upon...
I just found this song (and great artist) by a serendipitous stumble-upon... Love it when that happens! Answers a lot of unbidden questions. One about memory in particular...

Song for a Summer's Night
"See, honey, I saw love. You see, it came to me.
It put its face up to my face so I could see
Yeah then I saw love disfigure me
Into something I am not recognizing..."

Lost?!
Do you ever get lost sometimes? Wander off your road by accident or default? And is it okay to admit it? And is it possible to move on? Find a map of stars to follow and plot a future to?

Hello My Old Heart
Whatever about Easter falling in April, this month to me, is always the one in which the chrysalis on my winter-worn heart is shed. Spring is fully here, and a new year (my birthday falls in April) means new wings eager for flight.
It is like rediscovering your old heart - your oh-so-better beating true self, youthful, vibrant, alive and believing, triumphant free hoping heart!
Here's to this season of becoming (who you really are/want to be.) And the jubilant joy of it :)

Heart's Content
Funny to think that love has a rule of its own and never dies, goes on living without its hosts. Strange surmise isn't it? But sweet yes. And maybe true.
'We both retreat to opposing sands and the love lives on without us...'

Reconsideration
How susceptible we are to the heart's hopes. To feel torn between letting go and all the while, secretly, silently, hoping for the heart to step up and win out, and overrule against it...in a crescendo of true feeling.

Small Steps, Big Jumps
It's almost Spring. Some days I skip along to this, haloed by sun, others I stumble back into winter. Small steps can be big jumps. Big jumps can be small steps. Big jumps can be gentle, glorious in small/big ways.

Love, Always
'If you love someone, either you always will, or you never have.'
True.

Love, Love, Love
Happy Valentine's Day!
I have to say, I love Valentine's Day, regardless of relationship status. It's a day dedicated to love. And in this day and age of modern indifference and emotional apathy, I think it's a much-needed day, whether it has corny connotations or not!
And no matter how many times I get my heart broken, I can never give up on Love. The lows are low, but the highs - well they are so worth it. How could it be possible to fall out of love with love?
To love!
'Love, love, love...'
'All the very best of us
string ourselves up for love...'
This is just a big, happy, smiley, cheesy celebration of love that you just can't help but sing along with! It might even make you smile :) ~ Love is Endless

Happy New Year
Two songs for New Year's. The first, The Goo Goo Dolls' 'Better Days' for its embodiment of hope at this time of year, 'for tonight's the night the world begins again...':
and then The National's 'Blank Slate' , with its brilliant resolution refrain: 'Gonna be a blank slate/gonna wear a white cape'... I dare you to get that one out of your head now you've heard it!
